21st century

Living Global Worship

Multilingual, diaspora, and cross-cultural worship — including new arrangements of inherited texts.

Living Global Worship spans the 21st century of twenty-one.

1st century21st century

No recordings published yet

The twenty-first century is the first in which the whole inheritance is audible at once. A listener can hear a third-century hymn, a Genevan psalm, and a Lagos chorus in the same hour, and congregations on every continent write new songs every week.

CIAN Collective works inside this century: recording new works and re-voicing the older centuries for contemporary ears, with the history of every song documented as it is made. The catalog you are hearing is this era's contribution while it is still being written.

The era has no closing date. Some of its music is here.

The twenty-first-century church made worship into something that is not in line with what happens in the Trinity. CIAN Collective presents worship that reflects the beauty of the Trinity. It is contemplative and very mystical at the same time. Music is theophany, not entertainment. Perichoresis. The gospel of performance is refused. Belovedness precedes performance. Formation, not consumption. This band is editorial. It is not a SOURCE leaf and not a CIAN recording. The live page still prints “No recordings published yet.”

  4. Soyons Unis country line is internally mixed (Ivory Coast / Togo) on the same 2022 PDF.
  5. Portuguese failed. Do not invent Portuguese.

  1. Phos Hilaron, Common Worship 2005

    SOURCE

O gladdening light, of the holy glory of the immortal Father heavenly, holy, blessed, O Jesus Christ. Now that we have come to the setting of the sun and see the evening light we give praise to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Phos Hilaron — A Song of the Light · canticle 77 · Common Worship: Daily Prayer · © The Archbishops’ Council 2005 · Church House Publishing

    SOURCE

The singers name Jesus Christ as gladdening light of the immortal Father’s holy glory; at sundown they praise Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; the Son of God, giver of life, is worthy of holy voices, and the world glorifies him.

The same page continues: “Worthy are you at all times to be worshipped with holy voices, O Son of God and giver of life: therefore all the world glorifies you.” Not dumped beyond this short extract.
